Spring Fiddleheads

You may have seen these green things called fiddleheads in your gourmet super markets, local farmers markets, or at your local Whole Foods or Trader Joe's. They are called fiddleheads and they are one of springs great produce delights. They are a young curled fern and they can be eaten raw or cooked. 

Fiddleheads are a wonderful source of omega-3 fatty acid. Many people do not eat enough of this very vital fatty acid. We have to eat and consume omega 3 because the body does not make it. It is important that we get plenty of it and maintain a good level of omega 3 in our body. So many health benefits are associated with omega-3 fatty acid, such as anti-inflammatory, enhance memory, hormone production, and has also been linked to weight loss. Very few greens contain quality omega -3 fatty acid, and fiddleheads are one of the few.  If you are a vegetarian or vegan it is extremely important that you consume goo quality omega 3, and fiddleheads are great source. 

Head over to your local market and grab some fiddleheads because we will only see them for a few more weeks if we are lucky!
