Steel cut oats are the way to go. They aren't instant, but they are worth the 10 minute cooking wait. Rich in fiber, which instant oats do not contain nearly enough fiber, steel cut oats are the better porridge oat option.
Yields 2 servings
3/4 cup steel cut oats
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons maple syrup + 2 tablespoons for garnish
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup whole milk or nut based milk
Pomegranate seeds and orange segments
Add steel cut oats, water, spices, and maple syrup in a sauce pan.
Bring this to a boil, and turn the heat to low and cover. Allow this to cook for 10 minutes.
After the oats have cooked, add the milk and stir.
Serve and garnish with fruit and maple syrup.
